Jeremy & Sarah’s Wedding at The Barn at Rush Creek

There’s something incredibly romantic about a summer wedding tucked away in the Ohio countryside. Jeremy and Sarah celebrated their wedding day at The Barn at Rush Creek in Sugar Grove, Ohio, surrounded by family, friends, and all the little moments that made the day uniquely theirs.

Getting Ready at Rush Creek Retreat

The day began at Rush Creek Retreat, with Sarah getting ready alongside her bridesmaid (sister!). We have had one of the rainiest summers ever but, it pushed us to get creative and I am obsessed with the moody editorial details we captured in the barn.

Jeremy prepared separately with his groomsmen (brother in law), giving us the opportunity to capture his final moments before becoming a husband!

Unlike many wedding days, Jeremy and Sarah chose not to have a first look, saving the moment they saw each other for the ceremony.

A Countryside Ceremony at The Barn at Rush Creek

Sarah walked down the aisle with her dad, Steve Janitzki — affectionately known as “DadPal” — to marry Jeremy in a ceremony officiated by Grace Gerber of Wows & Vows.

The couple hoped for an outdoor ceremony surrounded by the natural beauty of Rush Creek, with the barn ready as their weather backup. The result was a beautiful summer setting for the beginning of their marriage. The sun popped out just in time for their vows.

After the ceremony, we moved directly into family portraits while cocktail hour took place around us.

Just Married Portraits

After family and wedding party photographs, Jeremy and Sarah finally had a few quiet moments together for their Just Married portraits.

We focused on a mixture of timeless portraits and movement , from classic smiling portraits and close-ups to walking, lifting, dipping, and documenting the details like their rings.

The grounds around The Barn at Rush Creek provided a beautiful natural backdrop for the couple's portraits, while the changing evening light gave us another opportunity for sunset photographs later in the reception.

A Laid-Back Summer Reception

The reception began with Jeremy and Sarah's first dance.

Dinner followed, with the couple taking a unique approach to their reception meal: they wanted photographs with their guests as everyone went through the buffet line before sitting down to eat themselves.

It was a fun way to incorporate their guests into the story of the day and I was absolutely obsessed with their backdrop they made.

Dances, Sunset & Open Dancing

The evening continued with the traditional parent dances, including the father-daughter and mother-son dances, along with an anniversary dance.

Then the dance floor officially opened with “youve got a friend in me” asking all kiddos and parents to dance together.

A Wedding Day Full of the Moments That Matter

Jeremy and Sarah's August wedding at The Barn at Rush Creek was a beautiful reminder that the best wedding photographs aren't only the perfectly posed ones.

They're the photographs of your dad walking you down the aisle. Your favorite people laughing beside you. The look on your partner's face during the ceremony. The quick moment alone together during sunset. Your family gathered around you. Your friends filling the dance floor.

Those are the moments that tell the whole story.
