Some wedding days unfold exactly as planned. Others ask you to embrace the unexpected — and Kayla and Zach’s September wedding was a beautiful example of that.

On September 12, Kayla and Zach celebrated their wedding day at Stan Hywet Gardens in Akron, Ohio, followed by an intimate reception at The Bank at East End.

Rain was a big part of the day, but instead of letting the weather dictate the mood, their team adapted and embraced it. Their outdoor ceremony was moved underneath a tent, creating an intimate setting for them to exchange vows surrounded by their closest family and friends.

This wedding was photographed and filmed by the Oh Deer Collective associate team, giving Kayla and Zach the full photo + video experience while keeping the focus on what mattered most to them: being present, celebrating their people, and enjoying the day.

When Rain Changes the Plan

The original plan was to have an outdoor ceremony at Stan Hywet Gardens.

But Ohio had other plans.

With the rain continuing, the ceremony was moved underneath a tent. And honestly, the change created something special.

Instead of an expansive outdoor ceremony, everyone gathered together under one roof. Family and friends were close, the atmosphere felt intimate, and Kayla and Zach were able to focus on each other rather than worrying about the weather.

The ceremony didn't need perfect weather to be beautiful.

It just needed the two of them.

The Bank at East End Reception

After portraits at Stan Hywet, Kayla and Zach headed to The Bank at East End for their reception.

The evening included cocktail hour, dinner, toasts, dances, cake, and plenty of time for everyone to celebrate together.

And whenever the light cooperated, Kayla and Zach had the opportunity to sneak away for a few additional portraits together.

Because even on a busy wedding day, a few minutes alone with your new spouse can be some of the best minutes of the entire day.

Your Wedding Doesn't Have to Go According to Plan

Rain doesn't mean your wedding day is ruined.

Sometimes the weather changes the timeline. Sometimes the ceremony has to move. Sometimes portraits happen in a completely different location than you imagined.

But those changes can become part of the story.

Kayla and Zach's wedding wasn't about having a perfectly predictable September day. It was about getting married, celebrating with their favorite people, and making the most of whatever the day brought them.

And that's exactly what their photographs and film now preserve.
